Tastefully converted from an 18th century farmstead, the hotel offers en suite bedrooms with tea/coffee making facilities, a TV and direct dial phones. Most overlook the mountains and fells. Smoking and Non Smoking rooms are available on request.

The Melbreak Hotel is situated on the west coast of Cumbria in The Lake District National Park. Keswick is a 30 minute drive away. Just beyond, within a 20 minute drive, are the southern lakes of Windermere and Thirlmere, and the western lakes of Wast Water, Ennerdale Water and Crummock Water. The harbour towns of Whitehaven and Maryport are only a few minutes drive away.
By car from the North:
- Follow the M6 motorway and exit at junction 44, heading west through Carlisle onto the A595.
- Take the Cockermouth bypass and join the A66 for Workington.
- Turn left onto the A595 for Whitehaven and after travelling about 600 yards you will find a sign for the hotel on the right hand side.
- Continue for a further 200 yards and you will find the entrance on your right.
By car from the south:
- Exit the M6 at junction 40 signposted Penrith.
- Continue west along the A66 and bypass Cockermouth.
- Turn left onto the A595 for Whitehaven and continue as above.
The nearest train station is in Workington (2 miles), and the nearest airports are Manchester and Newcastle, both around a 2 hour drive from the hotel.
Any guests wanting to check-in after 22:30 must inform reception before their arrival.
If you want a table in the restaurant on a Friday or Saturday evening, it is advised to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Cancellation
If cancelled up to 12:00 on the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.
