Just a short stroll from Sidmouth's bustling centre, the hotel is set in its own private, manicured gardens at the western end of the town’s striking esplanade.
Sidmouth is surrounded by beautiful countryside too. It is a great stretch for walking. As part of the Jurassic Coast, the cliffs at Sidmouth are famous for their internationally important geological features and abundance of fossils. In the summer you can take guided walks in the company of a local expert from Sidmouth Museum to take a closer look at this World Heritage Site.
During your stay you can take advantage of the wonderful terrace where you can take your time over a Pimms or a light lunch as you savour the wonderful sea views. The end of the day is a special time on the terrace too; balmy evenings and perfect sunsets make it a unique setting for an evening to remember.

Weekly dinner dances and a summer entertainment programme are always popular in the hotel, as is the hotel's putting green. Furthermore you are entitled to use the fantastic facilities at the adjacent Victoria Hotel. These include outdoor and indoor heated pools, tennis courts, sauna, solarium and spa bath, as well as a mini-gym, an 18-hole putting green and snooker table (some may incur additional charges).
In your room you will find fresh flowers on arrival as well as a personal greeting from the manager to make you feel especially at home. And if you are staying for a special occasion, the hotel can arrange for a bottle of wine or champagne to be ready and waiting for you. All you have to do is ask.
Every room in the hotel is easily accessible via a large passenger lift and benefits from an en suite bathroom and a range of convenient amenities. Most rooms have magnificent sea views, while the majority of deluxe rooms have a balcony and also benefit from complimentary toiletries, fresh fruit, bathrobes and an umbrella.
Food & beverage
Dining at the Belmont Hotel is always a special occasion and the hotel strives to keep it that way by requesting that gentlemen wear a jacket and tie in the lounges and dining room during evening dinner. It is a touch of formality that makes for a refined atmosphere and one that complements the quality of the cuisine. There is regular entertainment from the resident pianist, and service is formal yet always friendly.
A team of talented chefs at the Belmont are famous for creating a mix of traditional and contemporary dining that is cooked to perfection using the freshest locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. And of course the sommelier will be pleased to recommend a fine wine from the extensive wine list or an aperitif from the liqueur trolley, so you can enjoy a taste of fine dining in style.
Of course for private dining, a late snack or a leisurely breakfast on your balcony overlooking the sea, room service is always available.
Just yards away from the hotel’s entrance you will find the sea and Sidmouth's lovely beach and esplanade. It is a short level walk to the town centre, where independent shops and quirky boutiques, cosy coffee shops and fine restaurants make shopping here feel like a trip back in time, with an old world atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere.
Away from Sidmouth there are plenty of opportunities for sightseeing. Exeter is just a few miles away while, to the East, lovely Lyme Regis, with its world famous Cobb sea wall, offers a great opportunity for an historical day out.
