Four star recently upgraded character building situated along the shore of Scapa Flow in Burray village. All rooms are en suite overlooking the beach and pier where local fishermen work.

Our busy restaurant is open daily serving lunches, bar meals and a la carte. Fresh local produce is used whenever possible. The rooms, restaurant, garden room and lounge bar are all non-smoking; smokers are allowed to smoke in the Sands Bar. The Sands Hotel, originally built as a fish store in 1860, has been recently refurbished and upgraded to provide a high standard of both bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation in Burray village. The imposing building overlooks Burray Harbour, Watersound Bay and South Ronaldsay. The village shop and Burray post offce are just 2 minutes walk away, and there is also a garage nearby. The Sands Hotel is just 4 miles from the Pentland Ferries terminal at St Margarets Hope.

All rooms are en suite, have sea views and are non-smoking; smoking allowed in Sands Bar.

Breakfast is served from 07:00 until 09:00.
Lunch is served from 12:00 until 14:00.
Dinner is served from 18:00 until 21:00.

From Stromness and Kirkwall:
Leave the ferry and take the A965 and follow the road signs for Kirkwall. Coming in to Kirkwall, turn right at the Highland Fuels garage, signposted to Burray & South Ronaldsay. Follow the road past Somerfield & Lidl superstores, then turn right at the roundabout. Follow the road out of town past the Highland Park Distillery. After 7 miles you will come to St May's. Carry on and turn right across the Churchill Barriers. Cross 3 barriers. Carry on, past the Fossil & Vintage Centre. Approching Burray Village, turn right. Go down the hill and at the bottom, bear left and follow the road round, past the harbour and you will see The Sands Hotel.

From St Margaret's Hope:
Follwo the road through the village, up the hill to the main road. turn left for Kirkwall. After crossing the 4th Chruchill Barrier you are entering Burray Village. Go down the hill and at the bottom, bear left and follow the road round, past the harbour and you will see The Sands Hotel.

From Kirkwall Airport:
Leave the airport and turn left. After 3 miles, turn right, signposted to Holm and the Barriers. Follow the road until you come to the Chruchill Barriers. Trun left across the barriers. Cross 3 barriers. Carry on, past the Fossil & Vintage Centre. Approching Burray Village, turn right. Go down the hill and at the bottom, bear left and follow the road round, past the harbour and you will see The Sands Hotel.

There is ample space for car parking.

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

All children are welcome.
All children up to 2 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children up to 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
All older children or adults are charged EUR 25.00 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
