The hotel is situated in the heart of Graz, in the immediate vicinity of the main square. Its good location and variety of facilities ensure an enjoyable break.

For food and refreshments you can be pampered either in the hotel's restaurant Wintergarten or in the coffee house and the Ernst-Fuchs-Bar.

All the individually furnished rooms and suites reflect the elegant atmosphere of the former Baroque palace. A sauna with sun deck and a new fitness room round off the range of facilities.

The building had been the largest inn within city limits since the 16th century. In the period Barock of the 18th century it grew into a "Palais" with wonderfully designed rooms and suites, banquet halls and a catholic chapel. You can still see the beautifully crafted blacksmith's work, that dates back, to this era on the railing in the inner part of the hotel.

In 1852 the building was taken over by Ferdinand Sonnhammer, who gradually change the "Palais" into an upper-class hotel, and gave it the name Hotel Erzherzog Johann, after the well liked Styrian Prince, Erzherzog Johann.

Rates are per room and night and include a breakfast buffet. They also include free access to the sauna, sun deck and fitness centre.

The hotel serves breakfast from 06:30 to 10:30 Monday to Saturday and from 7:00 to 10:30 on Sundays and National Holidays.

The Wintergarden Restaurant, located in the Barock-style inner yard of the hotel, is without a doubt the centre-point of the house. The menu is modern and others regional cuisine, as well as being influenced by Italian dishes. The restaurant is open from 11:30 to 14:30 and 18:00 to 23:00 on Wednesday to Sunday. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The traditional Viennese coffee house offers traditional coffee and home-made cakes and pastries, as well as international newspapers. You can also find the famous "Ernst Fuchs Bar" here, which was designed using drafts and paintings by Austrian painter Ernst Fuchs.

The hotel is located in the old centre of the town. The congress centre, the casino and many other attractions of Graz are within walking distance. These include the House of art, island in the Mur and the clock tower.

Arrival by car:
- From the motorway take the exit Graz-Zentrum to the “Marburger Kai” -> “Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Kai”
- After the under bridge, at the second set of traffic lights turn right into the “Sackstrasse” and proceed until the end of the street.

The hotel has 4 parking spaces, available for an additional cost and subject to availability. For more parking spaces the hotel has an agreement with the nearby underground K&Ö parking garage at reduced rates. It charges EUR 13.30 per 24 hours (2007) and no reservation is required. The hotel's staff will park your car in the K&Ö garage for a fee of EUR 5 (2007).

Arrival by train:
Directly at the main station you can take the tram (lines 3 or 6) to the main place. On the right hand side, at the beginning of the “Sackstrasse”, is the hotel.

Arrival by plane:
Most major airlines service Graz daily.
You can take the airport shuttle (EUR 1.70) (2007) until the station “Jakominiplatz”. From there you can take a tram for one station (Hauptplatz). By taxi it will take you about 20 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport and costs around EUR 20 (2007).

Disabled Facilities:
The hotel's disabled rooms are equipped with disabled bathroom facilities for the bath and toilet.

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
If cancelled later or in case of no-show, 80 percent of all nights will be charged.

All children are welcome.
All children up to 6 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.
All children up to 2 years stay free of charge for cots.
All children from 6 to 12 years are charged EUR 25 per night and person for extra beds.
All older children or adults are charged EUR 55 per night and person for extra beds.
Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
