This hotel is located in Matera and has been created from an aristocratic establishment of the 18th century.

The hotel has been renovated keeping its original structure where restaurant room and the old garden are now located combined with a new side which hosts the rooms, the hall, the reception and the coffee bar.

The Hotel del Campo of Matera was developed from an ancient gentleman’s estate, dating from the end of the 18th-century.

Le Spighe Restaurant is immersed in a beautiful park and offers an excellent menu and recipes which include local specialities and a selected choice of traditional wines from Basilicata. A special menu for celiac is available on request.

Matera is an area where it is easy to recall the history of Man going back to the Paleolithic age, in the Neolithic villages and the vast urban areas of Civita and Sassi.

The Gravina, the Murgia and more than 120 Rupestrian churches with Byzantine frescos make this place a unique environment, where man knew how to use the meagre resources of the land by integrating himself with it.

The uniqueness of this evocative atmosphere has led to its being the first site in the world to be declared a ‘cultural landscape’ by UNESCO.

The hotel is located in the Matera zone, a few metres from the intersection of Via Gravina along the SS7; the bypass that gives access to the city. Shortly after the intersection, you should travel a few metres and take the first right-hand turn.

By Car:
From the Bologna-Taranto motorway:
- Exit at Bari Nord, and head towards Altamura-Matera (SS 99).

From the Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway:
- Exit at Sicignano degli Alburni and head towards Potenza.
- Follow directions to Metaponto (SS 407 Basentana) until you reach Matera.
- From the SS 106 towards Metaponto, follow the signs to Matera.

By Plane:
The closest airport is Bari-Palese (60 km).
