The Abbey Hotel sits in a prime location on the side of the beautiful Wye Valley, overlooking the ruins of the famous Tintern Abbey, which was founded in 1131.

Parts of the hotel’s building date back to 1206 when it was inside the original precinct wall of the Abbey. The earliest trade directory in which it was listed as a hotel was 1835, when it was known as the Beaufort Arms Hotel. The landlord at that time was for many years recorded as being the key holder and official guide to the Abbey. Although the hotel has undergone many changes throughout its history, in 2002 it was completely refurbished and renamed.

The Legacy Abbey Hotel offers 23 tastefully decorated bedrooms with a variety of modern facilities.

The Abbey Brassiere has been designed for all-day eating, from a wonderful breakfast selection to a candlelit dinner. The lounge provides total calm for a quiet drink, snack or chat.

All children's meals should be paid for directly with the hotel or resort.

For walking holidays Tintern to Chepstow is the last stretch of the famous Offa's Dyke Path. Directly above the hotel's grounds walkers can access the increasingly popular Wye Valley Walk.

For activity holidays, the steeply wooded Wye Valley offers abundant rambles and hill walking for the more energetic. The neighbouring Forest of Dean is a veritable sports wonderland with several centres offering activities such as potholing, orienteering, archery, paintballing and horse riding. Activity breaks at The Abbey Hotel also feature a mountain bike package.

M4 join m48 and exit at junction 2. Head North on the a466 (Chepstow to Monmouth road) following the beautiful Wye Valley, and you will not fail to see The Legacy Abbey Hotel on the left, opposite the historic Abbey remains, as you enter Tintern.

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.
